16 June 2025
Singapore has become one of the top choices for Indian students who dream of studying abroad. With its globally recognized universities, high safety standards, affordable education compared to Western countries, and excellent career prospects, Singapore offers a welcoming environment where students can truly thrive. It is a place where East meets West, providing a unique cultural and academic experience.
However, it’s crucial to thoroughly comprehend the student visa application process before beginning your academic career in Singapore. This procedure can be made easy and stress-free with the correct direction.
Singapore Student Visa Process: Step-by-Step Guide
In Singapore, the student visa is officially called a Student Pass. Below is a simple, step-by-step process to apply for it.
- Receive Your Offer Letter
The first step is to apply to and be accepted into a Singaporean educational institution that is recognized. Following acceptance, an official offer letter will be sent by the university.
- Register with the SOLAR+ System
After receiving the offer letter, the institution will register your details on the Student’s Pass Online Application and Registration (SOLAR+) system. You will be provided with a registration number and login credentials for the portal.
- Submit Your Student Pass Application
Log in to the SOLAR+ portal using the provided details. Carefully fill out Form 16 and Form V36, upload all required documents, and pay the visa processing fee (approximately SGD 30). Ensure the information provided is accurate to avoid delays.
- Wait for Approval from ICA
The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore will handle the processing of your application. You will obtain an In-Principle Approval (IPA) Letter upon approval, granting you entry into Singapore as a student.
- Travel to Singapore
When travelling to Singapore, you must carry your IPA Letter as it serves as your temporary entry approval for immigration purposes.
- Visit the ICA Office for Pass Collection
After arriving in Singapore, you are required to visit the ICA office to complete final steps such as biometric registration and payment of any remaining fees. Your official Student Pass will then be issued.
